How is chin implant performed?
Once anesthetized, a small incision is made from the inside of the mouth such that there is no scarring on the face after the procedure. When the incision is made on the face, attempts are made to hide the scar in the natural lines of the face. Once the incision is made, a pocket is formed to make room for the implant and the implant is then placed into the pocket. Often, the implant is sutured into place. The incision site is then sutured and the site is bandaged. Antibiotics may be given before the procedure to reduce the risk of infection (see below).
